In January, actor Kevin Bacon started a charitable website http://www.sixdegrees.org/ based on the concept that everyone is connected to any other person through six or fewer relationships (six degrees of separation). His new charitable take on this concept involves social networking with a social conscience.

Through the website, people can learn about and support the charities of celebrities and friends. People are asked to create a “charity badge” to raise money for their favorite cause. The badge is located on the six degrees site, and can also be put wherever the creator wants.

PAN is joining in this challenge and we hope that you will too.  It is a great way to share your personal story of Parkinson’s with people in your community and also raise support for PAN and our work.  Best of all, it is very simple to do!

Here is how you can help:

1.  You can add this badge to your website, blog, and/or copy it to a file that you can easily email to your friends, family, colleagues, co-workers and neighbors simply by clicking “Add This Badge to Your Site”.  Your contacts can make a donation to PAN directly through the badge through our secure on-line partner Network for Good by clicking the DONATE box and also send to their contacts and encourage them to do the same; OR

2.  You can create your own badge to support PAN and up to 4 other charities you care about by clicking “Create Your Own Badge”  Your contacts can donate directly to PAN through your badge and also pass on the word to their own contacts.
