Congress Considers NETRP Funding
July 25, 2007, the full House Appropriations Committee passed the Defense Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 by voice vote.  The bill provides $25 million for the Neurotoxin Exposure Treatment Research Program (NETRP) which funds top-notch, innovative Parkinson’s disease research at the Department of Defense. 
 
Congress Passes Annual Bill that Funds NIH
On July 19, 2007, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3403, the Fiscal Year 2008, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education Appropriations bill (Labor-HHS appropriations). 
 
Congress Considers Funding for Fiscal Year 2008
Thursday, July 12, 2007, Congress began consideration of two spending bills that have direct impact on the Parkinson’s disease community.
 
Congress Passes New Drug Safety Measures!
Congress passed new measures to ensure the safety of FDA-approved drugs on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.  The bill, known as PDUFA or H.R. 2900, passed the House of Representatives overwhelmingly by a vote of 403-16.  
 
Stem Cell Update - We Will Not Give Up!
PAN, along with CAMR, is supporting an incremental measure to expand ethical embryonic stem cell research. The provision, offered by Senator Harkin and Senator Specter, will be added to the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill, which is being considered by the full committee today.
