Congress Considers NETRP Funding

July 25, 2007, the full House Appropriations Committee passed the Defense Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 by voice vote.  The bill provides $25 million for the Neurotoxin Exposure Treatment Research Program (NETRP) which funds top-notch, innovative Parkinson’s disease research at the Department of Defense.

Congress passed new measures to ensure the safety of FDA-approved drugs on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.  The bill, known as PDUFA or H.R. 2900, passed the House of Representatives overwhelmingly by a vote of 403-16.  
 
Stem Cell Update - We Will Not Give Up!

PAN, along with CAMR, is supporting an incremental measure to expand ethical embryonic stem cell research. The provision, offered by Senator Harkin and Senator Specter, will be added to the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill, which is being considered by the full committee today.

Now is the time for a full court press on the White House to urge President Bush to sign the stem cell bill on his desk into law!  We are all watching and waiting to see if he will sign the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (S. 5) into law or veto it for the second time.
