On November 13, 2007, President Bush vetoed the fiscal 2008 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill as the total spending included in the bill was $9.8 billion above his request.
 
Senate Passes Stronger Funding for NIH

Tuesday morning, the U.S. Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee marked up the Defense spending bill. The full Appropriations Committee plans to take up the Defense spending bill Wednesday.
 
Congress Considers NETRP Funding

July 25, 2007, the full House Appropriations Committee passed the Defense Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 by voice vote.  The bill provides $25 million for the Neurotoxin Exposure Treatment Research Program (NETRP) which funds top-notch, innovative Parkinson’s disease research at the Department of Defense.
