Howard H. Garrison, deputy executive director for policy and director of the office of public affairs for the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), stressed the importance of federal research funding for the future of treatments and cures for some of our most devastating diseases.
In the latest Comcast Newsmakers segment, Garrison said he’s particularly concerned that one long term effect of federal cuts is that fewer young people will get involved in science.
“If the young people of today do not see prospects for creativity and for success in research in the future, they’ll go into other avenues, and we will lose the talent we so desperately need,” he said.
