NIH Coordinating NeuroBioBank for One-Stop Access to Brain Tissue

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will be shifting resources to create a web-based resource for researchers to share post-mortem brain tissue at neurobiobank.nih.gov. This change will help expedite research on brain disorders, according to the NIH.

The NeuroBioBank will allow for one-stop access to human brain tissue through five brain tissue repositories at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, Harvard University in Massachusetts, the University of Miami in Florida, Sepulveda Research Corporation in California, and the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.

All five repositories seek out and accept brain donations, store the tissue, and distribute it to qualified researchers.
