Healthcare.gov Updates and More Important Dates to Remember
Earlier this week, the Obama Administration announced a number of updates to the healthcare.gov website designed to improve and ease user experience. The home page of the website now features more prominent links to plan comparison tools, premium assistance estimates, and information about local resources and assistance before you apply for health insurance coverage. The initial steps in the application process have also been streamlined to more quickly direct applicants to the correct Exchange portal, whether federal or state-run.
In addition, the Administration has announced that people purchasing insurance through the Exchanges now have until December 23 to register for a plan to ensure that coverage begins promptly on January 1, 2014.
Remember, if you currently have coverage that you plan to keep in 2014 or Medicare or Medicaid, you do not have to purchase insurance through your state’s Exchange.
