Good News!

Parkinson’s community,

I am very happy to report to you that within the last hour the DC Court of Appeals issued a stay of the preliminary injunction halting federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research.  It would appear that the stay is only in place while the full arguments about the request for a stay of the preliminary injunction are heard in the Court of Appeals, but the important aspect is that, for at least the time period that it takes for this next phase of the case, the injunction is no longer in place against National Institutes of Health (NIH) and funding can continue.  The plaintiff’s response to the NIH’s appeal is due on the 14th of September and the Department of Justice (representing NIH) will then reply to that on the 20th of September.

PAN continues to work with the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research to fight this very important issue in both the courts and on Capitol Hill.  Please, over the next few days and weeks, watch for PAN Action Alerts asking you to reach out to your Members of Congress on this issue.

Thanks, as always, for all your hard work and support.
