NETRP Dear Colleague Update

Thank you to advocates who asked their Members of the House of Representatives and Senators to sign onto the Dear Colleagues letter.

The letter requests support of $49 million for the Department of Defense’s Neurotoxin Exposure Treatment Research Program (NETRP).

Both letters have been finalized and sent.  Please look for your Members and Senators on the House NETRP Dear Colleague and Senate NETRP Dear Colleague.  Be sure to thank your Representatives and Senators who signed onto the letters.

If your Representative or Senators did not sign onto the Dear Colleague letters, you may ask them to contact their colleagues on the Appropriations Committee in support of this program and request. Specifically, the Department of Defense (DoD) Neurotoxin Exposure Treatment Research Program (NETRP) is a model research program that investigates the linkage between neurotoxin exposures suffered by those in military service and Parkinson’s disease.  $49 million in funding is necessary to ensure the NETRP can fulfill its mission and fund necessary and on-going research projects that are already underway.  It is not an expansion of the program.
